A glazed pottery group of three shells with covers
釉陶三螺帶蓋擺件組

Late 19th century Japan
19世紀晚期 日本

Length: 32.5cm Width: 23cm Height: 11.5cm

The overall form combines three interconnected shells—both conch and scallop—masterfully shaped to mimic real marine forms. The exterior is glazed in a rich bronze-gold tone, while the interior is finished in a coral glaze, enhancing the lifelike quality of the shells. The lid is adorned with small shell motifs and accented with green seaweed, the shells functioning as a handle. The piece is both charmingly playful and practical, functioning as a decorative yet usable container.
