A ko-Kutani vase, Arita ware

Second half of the 17th century, Japan

Height: 36.9 cm, 14.53 inches; Diameter: 18 cm, 7.09 inches

Of elongated pear shape, with tall slightly everted neck ending in a ringed mouth, standing on a circular low foot. The vase is painted all over with a netting design in iron red with gilt details on a white ground; inscribed with an illegible enamelled painted mark to the base.
