A rare gilt-lacquered soapstone figure of Sakyamuni

Finely carved seated with hands in dhyanamudra, wearing long flowing robes delicately incised with vaporous clouds and tied at the waist revealing the bare chest which is adorned by a wan symbol, the serene face with downcast eyes and framed by long pendulous ears, the hair neatly arranged into tight curls with a high usuisa 7 inches (18cm) high.
