A FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN PILLOW IN THE FORM OF A BOY

Qianlong period
1736-1795 AD
China

The white glazed boy rests on all fours - with head held high and arms crossed below his chest. His hair is tied into two bunches, and his face has a smiling open mouth - the features finely and crisply executed. A wide bib of turquoise colour, and decorated with scrolls and lotus flowers, is attached around the neck; this is held together around the waist by a knotted red cord that falls short of the boy’s revealed genitalia. A gold bangle adorns each wrist and ankle.

Length: 17” / 42 cm
Height: 9.75” / 25 cm
